Artist Statement

My husband calls my style of painting...." Blue Collar Impressionism," which I think fits wonderfully.I have been told that my work is colorful, happy and even at times endearing. I have always considered my work to be a type of folk art with a semi-pointillism, textured style.

I like old, vintage and antique objects, and painting American folk art motifs, caught my eye, and I have now started painting furniture along with my canvas paintings.  I like to paint on glass, tin, wood, anything that is unique, antique or vintage. I love the concept that the traditional folk artists painted on what they had at hand and that is what made the piece uniquely theirs. My husband is a master carpenter, and takes apart, replaces parts, and makes sturdy once again, all furniture that I paint. He drills, fixes, and figures out how to hang everything I paint and frames all my paintings.

I love our American traditions and our seasons, and you will find many of my works, show this admiration. I love the things that make us uniquely American and you will also find many of my paintings reflect this.  My paintings of farms, old trucks, cowboys, and cowgirls and weather vanes, show my love of what makes us.. us.

I am in tune with doing custom paintings for people.  I love working with people to make a painting their very own. Many of the commissions I have done are of pets that have passed away, and it makes me happy to do this. I am great at answering emails, so email me and we can discuss what you want, and the specifics....subjects, size, colors, cost, etc.
